Training can be defined as bringing a person up to an acceptable level of proficiency by using instruction and supervised practical experience. Once this level of proficiency has been met the individual is deemed to be trained, and suitable to carry out his/her tasks without close supervision.
The SHSCT POCT Policy states that " Only trained, certified and competent staff should use POCT equipment".
All staff on completion of training ands competency assessment are issued with a 3 years training certificate. It is the line mangers responsibility to schedule in the staff members Personal development Plan (PDP) competency assessment and recertification prior to expiration of the current training certificate.
